The ride

New Brighton's streets have become a gallery you can't hang on a wall. Giant murals by internationally renowned artists have turned the Victoria Quarter into one of the UK's most ambitious pieces of public art — and the best way to see it is on two wheels.

This August, New Brighton Creative Futures and Hype Urban Bikes are teaming up to put you in the saddle for a free guided ride along the coast and through the heart of the OpenAIR Gallery. We'll roll out together, stop at each artwork, and share the artist, the ideas and the story behind every piece. Part bike ride, part gallery tour — and completely free.

Your route

We set off from HYPE Footgolf on Coastal Drive and head out along the New Brighton seafront before turning into the Victoria Quarter. There, we'll wind through the streets of the OpenAIR Gallery, pausing at the murals so your guide can talk you through each one.

Halfway round, we'll stop for refreshments at Rockpoint Records — home of Penfold's 'Torn but Not Broken' mural — before riding back along the coast to Harrison Drive.

It's a relaxed, sociable pace on flat, mostly traffic-free routes — suitable for anyone comfortable on a bike. No lycra, no racing, no pressure. The full loop takes around [2 hours] including stops.
