Location Grosvenor Road, New Brighton

A permanent place in the OpenAIR gallery
This mural marks an important step for the OpenAIR gallery.
Created in partnership with Forum Housing Association and their residents, Trust Emerging brings new voices into the public space. It is not just an artwork. It is a statement that everyone has a place here.
The project was built around a simple idea: creativity can offer stability, confidence, and visibility. For people whose lives have been unsettled, that matters.
The artwork
Trust Emerging explores shelter, belonging, and the need for a safe home.
At its centre is a protected figure, holding position while the storm moves around it. The message is clear without being literal. Support exists. Stability can be built. Trust takes time.
The tone is calm. The symbolism is deliberate. Nothing is overstated.
How it was made
The process
This was a genuinely collaborative process.
Residents began with ideas, sketches, and conversations shaped around Forum Housing’s core values. Those ideas were then interpreted by artist Brezaux into a final design that could be delivered collectively on the wall.
The final stage brought everyone together on Grosvenor Road. Residents, staff, and partners painted side by side. What you see now carries that shared effort.
Why it matters
This project does three things:
gives residents visible ownership in the town
creates a positive, lasting contribution to the public realm
demonstrates how small, well-run projects can deliver real social value
It also sets a direction. Housing, culture, and place-making should not sit in silos. When they connect, the outcome is stronger.
